History of Kirkby Group

What do we do?
• Research the history of Kirkby Ireleth
• Have interesting talks about the history of Kirkby and surrounding area and other subjects of historical interest
• Produce informative booklets about Kirkby’s past
• Visit places of interest on occasion
• Other activities appropriate to the Group’s aims
When and where do we meet?
• Meetings of one type or another happen most months throughout the year, but not in August and December
• Meetings are normally held in Kirkby Community Centre, at 7:30PM on or near the third Monday of the month
• Details will normally be published in ‘Kirkby Caller’ and on the ‘Kirkby-in-Furness Villagers’ facebook group
What commitment is there?
• None. Come and go as you please, and only do what you want
What does it cost?
• It’s inexpensive! Membership for 2023 is just £5 for the year
• Small charge for talks to cover speaker and room hire costs
Anything else worth knowing?
• A friendly, welcoming group of like-minded people
• The Group’s website, https://www.history-of-kirkby.org/ is currently undergoing a rebuild and will hopefully be online with content again, early in 2024
I’m interested in the Group, who do I contact?
• The chairman, Trevor Lee:
◦ kirkbyhistory@teesandbees.org.uk
…or any other member of the Group.
